I have had the pleasure of knowing Ruthanne both personally and professionally for over 20 years. Working together, she was an outstanding ophthalmologist who helped preserve the vision and quality of life for thousands of patients and to this day I still see patients who are so grateful for what she did for them. As friends and neighbors, Ruthanne, Bob, Nick and Laura have always been upbeat, active members of the community and have demonstrated great courage and dignity throughout these difficult past few years. A true inspiration to us all. Samantha and Laura have been classmates for many years and continue to be good friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jeff and Debbie Kublin and Family

Ruthanne was the best. I got to know her when she joined my practice in 1995 as consultant and surgeon to my patients after I retired from cataract surgery. She faced each challenge in the office and O.R. calmly and with great skill and steadfastness that was truly amazing. She excelled in every way. Her warm. caring attitude was a constant source of strength for her patients and friends. I will miss her greatly.

Mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, colleague, physician caretaker - all were the many sides of the beautiful person we knew in Ruthanne. She gave a lot and has left the world a better place with her being. We cherish the many wonderful times we had with Ruthanne and will hold them dearly in our hearts forever. We feel so fortunate to have shared the past 16 years of special times with Ruthanne and Bob. We will so deeply miss her but know can take comfort in knowing that the heavens have gained a good, good lady. We can all bet that heaven has already become more organized with her entrance! Her broad beaming smile will also remain etched in our memories. We will keep Bob, Nick, Laura, and the Simmons family in our thoughts and prayers as you all move into this new chapter of life. We love you all!

Although I did not know Ruthanne well, my children's friendship with Nick and Laura have led us to many interactions over the past six years. The most incredible memory I have of Ruthanne is how, on an unbelievable day last May, despite her illness, she braved freezing temperatures and snow(!) to participate in a Girl Scout overnight with Laura and many of the other 4th grade girls in our troop. We camped in platform tents with our daughters while the temps hovered around 32 degrees! The scout motto is "Be Prepared" and I am sure that Ruthanne has well prepared her children to grow into adulthood like the wonderful and caring person that their mother was. My thoughts are with you all.
